5 out of 5 stars This book is a blast!   November 3, 2008
Great series. Every book gets better as the series goes along. Book 3 is the best one yet.

5 out of 5 stars Book 3 is so good, Brandon better be writting number 4!   October 27, 2008
In book three, he doesn't waste time starting the adventure. Seth and Kendra are in deep after only learning about Fablehaven (and the true existence of fairies, and the like) merely 15 months ago. They have earned gifts and reputations and now test their ability to know what is the right thing to do and whom to trust. Twists and turns are hinted at but Brandon Mull makes you wonder, right along side Kendra and Seth. Descriptions are detailed enough to fire the imagination, but not so long that you wanted to skip 3 paragraphs. Your could feel the fear, the cold, the magic. Great Job Mr Mull! Keep writing, we want more.

I admit it! I love the Harry Potter books, but felt a bit silly reading something so much below my age level. But Brandon Mull's Fablehaven is just as exciting but isn't vocabulary deficient. Harry Potter is considered a 5-7 grade level book where Fablehaven is 7-9. It won't make you keep a dictionary at your side all the time, but will make you notice a new word not Harry Potter books. And it still does not have the unnecessary bone-breaking detail or sexual content.

4 out of 5 stars #2 Was Best in Series   September 30, 2008
My 11 yr. old son LOVES this series! According to him, #2 was the best of the three, but all were exciting and imaginative. If you have kid who loves fantasy, as mine does, he/she will find this story and this series very compelling and hard to put down. Highly recommended for fantasy-lovers.

5 out of 5 stars I enjoyed reading it as much as my kids!   September 13, 2008
I think earlier reviews have covered the basic plot and premise. I wanted to share our experience with the book. We read the first together this summer as a fun way to past the time, but as the characters grew and the new world opened up, we couldn't put it down. My 11 year old volunteered to cook so that I wouldn't have to stop reading it aloud. The plot is surprising and the characters grow in realistic ways. I found the internal consistency to be good and vocabulary was delightful. We enjoyed them enough from the library that we have bought them to have at home and read again. The questions in the back are great for discussions and offer chances to invite parents to observe their children make tough choices. My husband overheard us reading, and has asked for regular updates on the plot. Good for you, Brandon, for successfully writing a series that appeals to so many readers. Keep writing! We can't wait for the next installment!

5 out of 5 stars Fablehaven:Grip of the Shadow Plague   September 6, 2008

Brandon Mull continues to surprise me with his latest installment of the Fablehaven novels. His writing is simple but continues to captivate attention. And yes, questions are finally answered. There is however, the on going plot to save Fablehaven from immediate distruction, But there are many sub-plots and twists that add to the novel as a whole. I am a fan and will continue to read Fablehaven and look forward to Mull's next installment. This book is for people of all ages and (in my opinion) will captivate audiences over the years to come.
